This was part of my copper pipe phase. More bending and twisting and heating with an interesting patina.  This one also has fused glass elements I created for a class.

Warrior Pose

I’ve been a yoga fan for several years now.  I saw these flat disks of metal and saw the beauty of the warrior pose. Give them some heat and some hammer action along with a nice patina and now we have motion and flow.

Hodiak Kobre

Hodiak Kobre

This is one of my favorite pieces.  I like things that look melted and damaged — it helps alleviate the day to day straight lines I have to deal with.

It is a combination of steel and copper on a marble base.

Enlightened Copper Bend

Enlightened Copper Bend

Copper is an everyday material that is in most of our homes.  In general, it is very utilitarian and hidden from view.  How often do you even think about the plumbing or wiring of your home?  What would you do without electricity?

Copper is one of my favorite materials.  It can bend and warp in an infinite variety of shapes.  Besides be very durable outside, it develops a wonderfully vibrant patina.

Enlightened copper bend started its life as simple copper pipe. By altering its shape and intended purpose, I create an object to think about – it changes from construction material to art.

Here’s a haiku it inspired:

 Copper pipe it is.
Heat. Beat. Bend. Flame is the way.
What is it? Your call.

Native -- steel sculptureNative

This piece was inspired by my friend Sam.  He had all these tank bottoms (the round objects) and he said I could use some.

That, and a bit of square tubing I found, and we end up with Native.
